Plot & Theme
Gachiakuta follows Rudo, a boy from a slum in a floating city, where the wealthy cast off both trash and people into an abyss called The Pit. Falsely accused of murder, Rudo is exiled and must survive among mutated “trash beasts.” To clear his name and take revenge, he joins the Cleaners, a group that battles the monsters of The Pit using “vital instruments”—mundane objects empowered with special meaning.
Themes explored include class divide, discrimination, justice vs. vengeance, and how society treats its discarded.
Episodes & Reception
-
As of mid-September 2025, 10 episodes have aired.
-
The anime has been praised for its art style (graffiti-inspired visuals), strong world-building, atmospheric setting, and compelling protagonist.
-
Some viewers note that while the premise is familiar (revenge, dystopian society), the execution (visuals, tone, themes of waste/discarded people) feels fresh.
